Application deadline: January 31st 2024

Project Art festival “Out of town” Art Camp in Äksi “Arts of Survival” is a part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 main programme.

The international art camp for painters takes place in Äksi, Tartu municipality, mainly in the local art gallery Galerii No1 and its surroundings. Äksi is located in the Vooremaa landscape protection area, 20 km from Tartu, on the banks of the picturesque Saadjärv. Local views have inspired many well-known Estonian artists, including the legendary Konrad Mägi. In the early 20th century, the nearby Kukulinna manor was the famous summer base of art school Pallas artists and students. At the end of the art camp, each artist will complete 2-3 paintings inspired by the general theme of European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 “Arts of survival”.

The artworks created  at Art Camp in Äksi “Arts of Survival” remain with the organizer and will be included in a collection to be presented in travelling exhibitions in following years. First exhibition will be installed in Gallery No1, which will be opened on 06.07.2024.
